He is the former Head of Security for the Wholesale Applications Community (WAC) and previously headed up Panasonic Mobile’s Product Security and Customer Engineering in Europe. He has advised government and Police organisations on a range of mobile phone security and forensics issues.

David Rogers (@drogersuk) is a Director of Copper Horse Solutions Limited, a software development and security consultancy business based in Windsor. He also teaches the Mobile Systems Security course at Oxford University. David’s articles and comments on mobile security topics have been regularly covered by the media worldwide including The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal and Sophos’ Naked Security blog. Formerly he helped to establish the Wholesale Applications Community (WAC) which aims to give developers a one-stop shop to many manufacturers and app stores through HTML5 and widget technology. He served as Chairman of the Security Group and Head of Security until February 2011. He has worked in the mobile and semiconductor industries for over 16 years in software engineering and security.

David has advised the UK Home Office and international law enforcement agencies on a number of mobile phone theft, security and forensic issues. He continues to champion the pioneering work in the mobile phone industry on embedded security within handsets. This work has led to widespread adoption of hardware security to protect security-sensitive applications such as m-payments.

David holds an MSc in Software Engineering from the University of Oxford and a HND in Mechatronics from the University of Teesside.

David judged for the 2012 and 2013 Global Mobile Awards at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
